Redouline & the Food

And the important bit – the food…..

Board is on a bed and breakfast basis, with evening meals available on request.  Breakfast includes homemade preserves and breads, featuring our special Apricot and Vanilla Conserve.

Packed lunches of homemade goodies are available on request should you need one to take with you on your day’s adventures.  If you are around we can provide lunch, why not take a sharing platter of local charcuterie with a glass of wine in the garden?  Or maybe a portion of homemade pate with red onion and damson marmalade, of course homemade!  Or why not try our shallot and red wine tatin with goat’s cheese? Or perhaps a salad with Aioli made with local garlic? Or even a nice bowl of soup and crusty baguette.

Dinner

dinner-in-the-gardenDinner is a leisurely affair and in true French tradition, not something to be rushed.  Usually consisting of 3 or 4 courses with house wine included we aim to provide you with not just a meal but an enjoyable, relaxing evening to remember, where conversation flows freely and friends are made.

Meals are prepared using local seasonal produce by Denise who has many years of experience working as a freelance chef and young chef mentor.  Special diets are catered for as we know it is important for all diners to have an enjoyable tasty meal regardless of their dietary requirements or preferences.  In the Dordogne, the Perigord Noir is reputed as an area of gastronomy; unfortunately Vegetarians still find it hard to find interesting dishes aside from the ‘omelette’.  At Redouline we have an appetising range of creative Vegetarian and Pescataqrian recipes that are sure to please.

Traditionally in France a Table D’hote meal is without menu allowing the cook to produce dishes using seasonal produce, serving the same to all guests.  However we take into account and accommodate any special requirements with prior notice.

On fine evenings before dinner we like to start the evening with an Apéro in the garden.  May be try a homemade damson gin over ice?

After Dinner….

Retire to your room for a well-earned rest or take a night time walk to admire the starry nights, with no light to pollute the sky clear nights are just amazing with so many stars to watch, be careful, you may find yourself wanting to sleep in the garden!!
